- Launch boats at the Elk River Fish Hatchery, Takeout out is at Ironhead before you reach Elk River Bridge
- Elk River is slow to muddy during heavy rains, and clears quickly.
- 2011 Salmon Season runs from: and is best fished by boat
- 2011 Steelhead Season runs from: with opportunities for fishing off the bank and by boat.
- River levels are posted on this website February or March, information from the Elk River Hatchery (Bank fishing: limited as most banks are on private land, Ironhead bank fishing is improved, and many fish the Elk River Bridge.)
